Supporting a Life Worth Living

St Dominics Centre is located in the beautiful rural surrounds of the eastern outskirts of Feilding in the Manawatu.

Our historic homestead is set across 25 acres and includes 4 charming buildings:  a grand old two-storey villa, Kauri Cottage, The Lodge and the Yaxley Centre. The villa has been carefully restored to combine old world charm and modern day comforts. All the facilities are geared to giving our residents an active, supportive and spacious environment in which to live their lives and reach their full potential.

St Dominics Centre has proudly provided supported residential recovery accommodation for people living with mental illness since 1991. The Yaxley Centre was built in 2008 to provide specific semi-secure supported residential accommodation for the elderly or those with higher needs due to disability or living with mental illness.

Our practices have always been based on a holistic, therapeutic, community approach to mental health support and recovery. We have provided planned respite services and enhanced packages of care services to MidCentral DHB for more than 10 years and also established a crisis respite service in 2014.

We take an individualised, tailored approach to caring for our clients and assisting them to recovery.

St Dominics Centre is a facility located rurally on the eastern outskirts of Feilding in the Manawatu. The homestead buildings are set across 25 acres, surrounded by tranquil farmland. Feilding is a five-minute drive or 20-minute walk from St Dominics Centre.

The aim is to support every individual back into the community. We therefore work closely with community-based services to ensure the links and pathways for our clients provide freedom of choice and independence from the outset. Such an approach makes the transition back into the community a natural progression.

While at St Dominics we will make you feel completely at home. Hearty, delicious meals will be served in a comfortable environment and our menu is extensive. Activities and social interaction are all key to recovery and integration. Such activities include trips and walking groups.

Rooms are designed with a comfortable bed, sideboard, tallboy, reading chair, wardrobe and personal hand basin. 7 self-contained suites are also available. Residents are free to enjoy the spacious living and dining areas, stroll outdoors in the beautiful, peaceful grounds of the homestead, or simply relax, rest and recuperate inside.

St Dominics Centre provides a residential option for people with mental illness who are on their pathway to recovery. Support is provided to assist people to grow their confidence, skills, connections, health and wellbeing. In addition to this some people come for regular stays of up to a week to give themselves or those they live with a rest.
